In chapter 24 a lot of things happen and one main one is Tom Robinson was killed and shot 17 times. One character that we haven’t seen throught the book is Ms Merriweather. She is a member of the Maycomb County and in the chapter she is invited to Atticus’s house along with other women in the society.

Hypocrisy is shown in this chapter when Ms Merriweather, the new character is hypocritical about her view on black people both within the tribe of Africa,(the Mrunars) and the black people of Maycomb.

Task 1: How does Harper Lee prepare us for the verdict of the trial?

“The feeling grew until the atmophere in the court-room was exactly the same as a cold Febuary morning”

This quotation prepares us for the verdict by explaing the atmosphere in the court-room as a “cold February morning”. This quotation creates an image in our head, that the atmosphere is depressing and miserable.
